Boston United Football in the Community is delighted to announce that following the success of last season, we will once again be running the half time Fair Play league this season. Our football in the community staff are constantly striving to encourage and develop fair-play and positive behaviour as well as developing football and fitness skills. In an effort to make this more exciting for the children the league will be of a similar format as last season but improvements have been made based on the feedback given by participants following their experience on the day, enabling us to make the day of an even higher standard.
Boston United is one of the biggest non league clubs in the country. We are proposing that every time the Boston United first team have a home game, junior team's will have a chance to participate in ONE mini-match on the main pitch at half time in front of one thousand plus fans. The league is for junior teams at under 8, 9, 10 and 11 level. The matches will be part of a fair-play league whereby each team will put forward a squad minimum of 6 players and to a maximum of 10 players to participate in the scheme and the team with the most points after the final game will be invited back at the end of the season for a penalty shoot-out and presentation.
Furthermore this season we are introducing a second league. Each team will be entered into a passing league whereby every squad will be assessed on how many completed passes they make during the game. The team with the most passes after the final game will be invited back at the end of the season for a penalty shoot out and presentation. Due to the nature of the games, the amount of goals scored will not be the winning factor, instead it will be the amount of points a team builds up both for fair play and passes completed.
The winning teams from each league will be invited back at the end of the season to meet in a fun penalty shoot out before their final presentation in which each player on the winning teams will receive a signed football and a trophy, as well as a cup for the team to keep.
The specific criteria of the games are as follows:
¬ Squads can consist of up to 10 players with a minimum of 6 (under 8, 9, 10, and 11) with only 6 allowed on the field of play at once.
Changes that can be seen this season are as follows
« Each team starts on fair play 100 points. Your team will be awarded a point for each time a player in that team demonstrates Fair play.
« Points can be awarded for shaking opponents hands, applauding or acknowledging good play, helping people up to their feet etc.
« Points can be deducted for unfair play. Examples of this can be swearing, disrespecting team mates, officials, coaches, bad tackles, unsporting behaviour etc.
« Completed passes during the game
« Certificate and match day programme for each player
« Certificate for team
« Presentation on pitch for the above after first team game from Boston United's man of match on the day
« Squad list named out over tannoy
« Free entry for players and coaches
« Discounted tickets for family and friends
Furthermore, each child that participates in the league will receive free entry to the game. Each team will be entitled to 2 free adult tickets for accompanying coaches on their particular match day. Furthermore, any adult family or friends can gain entry for only £5 and children for £1
