Boston United Football in the Community scheme was formed in September 2004. This was introduced as part of the football clubs development plan for the future. We are non profit-making organisation that was managed by the Professional Footballers’ Association who controlled our bank accounts and finances up until 30th November 2007.

Unfortunately due to the club losing its Football League status in May 2007 and with the news that the FITC head office in Manchester was closing down.  A decision was made that the Football League will be looking after all the Football League clubs community schemes. In order for the scheme to continue we had to set up a new organisation. A new organisation was formed on 1st December 2007.

The Scheme's Objectives are:

To improve participation in football and other healthy activities.
To engage young people in healthy activities.
To encourage the community to support there local football club.
To improve the standard of life in the community through football and other sports.

The types of activity we provide include delivering national curriculum P.E. in primary schools. After school clubs, evening sessions, E2E projects to help young people in to employment. We also work in youth clubs and with other partners including the Lincolnshire Youth Service and Lincolnshire Police to provide activities to help reduce crime reduction, the NHS to promote awareness of teenage pregnancy amongst working with other providers on an ongoing basis. In addition we go in to the community and actively promote healthy eating and encourage different health initiatives and we are looking to hold projects for the disabled and set up sessions and a league throughout for disabled people in South Lincolnshire. We have just been awarded the F.A. Charter Standard Holiday Courses award to show that we are a quality holiday course provider that meets the high standards and qualities that F.A have set.

We provide a series of different sessions and activities not only in Boston, but as far a field as Skegness, Spalding, Stamford, Holbeach, Long Sutton, Crowland & Wisbech.

Nick Reeson heads up the scheme at Boston United and he has a team of full-time staff and trainee community coaches working alongside him, including Jamie Lawrence, Richard Houghton, Lewis Wright, Bobby Smith, James Thorold and Nathan Hubbert.
